Alaw And Ulaw On Same Server

Dear Voiceguide staff,

 

In voiceguide setup there is an option to choose ALaw or ULaw.

 

We have US and European lines connected to the same server (using VOIP lines) and we would like to make some ports ALaw and some ports ULaw.

 

How can this be accomplished?

The option at installation determines what format sound files are installed in VoiceGuide's \system\voice\ subdirectory.

 

It does not limit what sound file type can be used by the system.

 

VoiceGuide will play both ALaw or ULaw format sound files (and other formats as well) regardless of what option is selected at application install time.

 

If ULaw files are played over ULaw connections then no transcoding will be done and the outgoing RTP will be exactly the same as the sound file.

And similarly:

If ALaw files are played over ALaw connections then no transcoding will be done and the outgoing RTP will be exactly the same as the sound file.
