Long Delay Before Taking Path

Recommended Posts

I just upgraded from Windows ME to Windows 2000 Professional.

Prior to Win2000, my scripts executed fairly quickly, but now I'm getting long delays before it takes action on a path. When a (wav) message is playing, if I wait until the message is finished before pressing a key, the path is taken immediately, but, if I press the key before the message stops, the sound stops, but there is a long delay before the next module is executed, almost like the script is still playing, but such that it can't be heard. When the wave file stops playing the next module executes without incident.

I'm running Windows 2000 SP 4, Voiceguide 5.03. WincommV.92 modem

Like I said everything seemed fine, until I upgraded to Windows 2000.

Any ideas.

Could you please post a copy of VoiceGuide's Debug Printout which captures the problem, this will allow us to see what is going wrong.

(When running the script click on VoiceGuide's View menu and select 'Event Trace Log' option - any log information will then appear in this window. You must open the trace window before making the call.)

I suspect that this modem's Win2000 drives are just not as good as the Win98 drivers - and they take longer to report that modem has completed play...

Here's the log you requested. I noted the first place where it could occur.

I switched to Win2000 at VG recommendation, to solve a problem where the system was crashing. It doesn't appear to crash now, not I have a new problem, as described.

I'm using the modem manufacturer's win2000 driver. Is that correct?

Can I, or, should I use the ME driver with Win2000?

Some modems have delays stopping the playing of WAV files after they are instructed to stop playing them. Looks like you have one of those modems...

The problem usually lies in the modem's Windows' drivers, so it's a good idea to first check with the manufacturer if a newer version of the drivers has been released...

Failing that the only option is to change to a different modem or get a Dialogic card...

Can I, or, should I use the ME driver with Win2000?

Not possible. Win98 drivers are written top be used under win98, and Win2000 drivers are written to be used under Win2000 - you cannot just start using a different driver - but again all modem driver related questions are best addressed to the modem manufacturer.
